Walnuts are represented by almost 30 types of different varieties of trees. They are very nutritious, as they have a very low water content (3-4%), good oil levels (60%) and contain calcium, iron, vitamin E and zinc. Research has demonstrated that elasticity of blood vessels can be improved if walnuts are incorporated in the daily diet.
The walnut is a very good source of omega – 3 fatty acids, on top of Vitamin E, and a variety of minerals.
While walnuts can be eaten raw, just as they are, they are also extensively used in the confectionery, as well as for making butter.
